Today we recorded the vocals for Shine. Here are a few pics of my vocalist and engineer at work. It was truly an amazing and humbling experience to work with such talented and professional people.
Dave tracked Joanna through a Lucas CS-1 tube condenser microphone into a Brent Averill 1073 preamp with a Teletronix LA-2A and Universal Audio 1176LN on compression duties.
For effects we added some plate reverb from a super classic box ;) The Line 6 Echo Pro dialed in the timing for our delays which came from the Eventide H3000s Ultra Harmonizer and a Lexicon PCM41. Finally… everything was mixed down on a superb Sound Workshop Series 34 desk.
Don’t know how to describe the feelings I have for this record…
Shine
I’m about to introduce an amazing new vocalist to the electronic scene with my new original vocal titled “Shine”.
I’m very excited about the track and exposing her talents to the world. I believe that everyone will be heartfelt with this one. More to come…
Best,
Vinny Fiore
More inspiration from my Ibiza trip, this time a nice prop addition to the studio. My intent was to duplicate the environment created by the Void Air Motions at DC-10 so now when I produce I will envision my tracks being played on that amazing system and by the DJs who play there.
Can’t really appreciate the picture frame but it’s the main entrance to the old Sound Factory (now Pacha) in NYC. “Welcome to the Sound Factory”
Some of the gear that sneaked into the pic includes: Mackie HR 626, Studio Electronics SE-1X, Mutronics Mutator, FMR RNC, Akai MPK 88, Access Virus TI Desktop, DBX 160X.
Can’t forget the orange Amnesia hand fan as well ;)
Found the receipt from my first DJ purchase at Music Stop which was located on 86th street in Brooklyn.
The “package deal” consisted of 2 Gemini turntables (believe belt driven), a Gemini mixer, with 2 (pretty big) Gemini speakers, and of course the DJ coffin. All for $1400.00 bucks.
The receipt is dated 11.22.99 so I guess I been at this for just over 11 years! This had to be added to my vision board…
DANCE.HERE.NOW with Danny Howells and Brad Miller
Passed by Cielo last night for Danny Howells.
Placed was packed with lotsss of tourists but good vibes and Danny played his usual bumpy tech house. Definitely played a few gems but wish there was a bit more room to dance. I guess I enjoyed him better when he played at Santos Party House.
Only bad part about Cielo is the drink prices. They seriously are over priced and a big reason why I’m not there more often. $102.00 for 3 well drinks and 3 shots. Come on now!
Anyways, thanks to Gilda Oliveira for hooking us up at the door (and for actually remembering who the “f” I am lol). Always fun to see Anthony Lamont as well.
Slices Tech Talk: Vinyl Manufacturing
I really enjoyed watching the vinyl manufacturing process at Dubplates and Mastering in Berlin and love the tender care that is put in to each step to achieve the best sound quality possible. Of course this furthers my appreciation and love for vinyl.
My last release that was pressed to vinyl was “Complicated” on N02 Records back in 2007. I’m hoping I can change that with my next release and first for 2012!
