New York City House | Red Bull Music Academy -

A great article by Red Bull Music Academy refreshing us on the house music pioneers that emerged from New York, the clubs they played in, and how they influenced and shaped the scene overall.

Looking at my dream board, listening to my tracks, and planning out the next steps to close out the album.

I’m in the final stretch and I never felt better!

In the summer of 2004 Mira R. hired me as an intern to work under Cortney C. and sometimes even with Mr. Graves for STAR 69 Records. I remember I had just finished buying some vinyl at Satellite Records and after Peter looked through my purchases I got accepted for the gig.

I recall seeing the Grammy Peter won in 2000 for Best Remixer of the Year and just feeling honored I was accepted to be a part of such a small team. Although Peter was always busy it was inspirational to watch him work on new music from a distance knowing the caliber of his production skills.

Unfortunately it’s times like these that you recollect and realize that you were part of something so special.

Thank you for the opportunity to make a small contribution to you and the label, DJ a few STAR 69 All-Star nights, and of course may your music and dance floor memories live on.

TK Wonder deliveried an amazing performance today for our next collaboration titled DEVIL IN YOU on my upcoming debut album The Amazing Faculty.

We recorded her a little different than how we did “Leave The Heart”. Today the front end chain was a 1958 Neumann M582 Vintage Gefell Condenser Tube Microphone thru a Funkenwerk V78M Tube Mic Preamp and of course the LA2A for slight compression. TK loved it - so did we!

Here is a pic of Dave capturing the spirit of the song with the open air and sun shining through for us! Magic!

BOMBA Ibiza: The Danny Whittle Interview - from Ibiza-Spotlight -

I must say Danny Whittle came across like a class act and stand up guy. Well done! With that, I wish him well with BOMBA and any endeavor he touches on the island! I would definitely go to experience Yousef’s party; Circus.

Pacha Ibiza flipping the script with their Talent -

Interesting article and definitely surprised Morillo isn’t returning for another season. Hmmm I wonder how that will affect him playing for Eddie Dean and at Pacha in NYC.

So I see both sides to the story… on one hand you have Whittle who helped build up the brand, the club, started the Pacha record label, as well as boosted these DJs to all new levels. Making boat loads of money - hey why not, it does sound pretty justified. On the flip side as a family run business - where does it stop? Obviously those payouts are not too sustainable and there definitely needs to be some checks and balances in place before things balloon outta control.

Anyways, I was a bit disappointed with the club the last two seasons so I think it’s a refreshing idea and a bold move for the Urgell family. I’m sure they will loose a large portion of their crowd to the Cipriani restaurant and BOMBA nightclub however with their plans for a whole new talent lineup I don’t see it being much competition for them. With that, it’ll be interesting how Pacha matches up to DC-10 and now Sankeys since they plan on bringing in more underground artists.

I’m sure this is the first of many new changes and exciting twists for the 2013 Ibiza season…
